Bloom – Living Mandalas – is a sixty minute multi-media mandala meditation set to the original music of Echo Mazur. Stunning images from mandala artists across the globe and the sacred geometry of nature dance on the giant screen while Echo performs live on the clarinet, piano, and more exotic ocarina, Sundanese suling, and Balinese gender. A delight for the senses, Bloom is a one of a kind show that needs to be experienced.
The mandala is an ancient pattern dating back 6,000 years and still found in many cultures worldwide. It usually takes the form of a circle with concentric rings emanating from its centre and is often placed within a square. It is a representation of the universe and everything in it. Vibrant colours, symbolism and sacred geometry are included in the design. A powerful image of wholeness, the mandala unites within the viewer the forces of opposites, of darkness and light, and creates a sense of stillness, peace, harmony and balance.
Echo Mazur is a multi-instrumentalist living in Edmonton. She performs regularly on clarinet with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and has enjoyed teaching at their Rusty Musicians summer camp. She currently teaches piano and clarinet privately and at MacEwan University
Conservatory of Music. Her compositions include the soundtracks to “Exploring Ancient Egypt” (Indianapolis Museum of Art) and “A Year at Sherbrooke” (National Film Board of Canada).
