The concert will be taking place on January 18, 2020 at People’s Church located in Edmonton. All proceeds from the event will go to NotJustYou and will be used to positively impact the lives of individuals with sickle cell.
Ufuoma Muwhen, the 21-year-old founder of the non-profit explains, “When a community is united in support of individuals with sickle cell disease, we take one step closer to the eradication of the shame and stigma associated with the disease. Holding an event that brings together people from all walks of life to fellowship and connect with the Most High in praise and worship is how our organization takes that step within our local community.”

Collectively raised over $5000 in donations
Assembled and distributed Warrior Bags to Sickle Cell patients at the Stollery Children’s Hospital with the University of Alberta’s Black Students Association
About NotJustYou: NotJustYou is a non-profit Sickle Cell Support Organization based in Edmonton, AB. Created by Ufuoma Muwhen, a 21 year old young woman who was born with sickle cell disease. After battling the disease for 18 years, in 2016 she underwent a Reduced Intensity Bone Marrow Transplant and is currently sickle cell free. However, the loneliness and isolation which she experienced during her battle with the disease drove her to the inception of NotJustYou. Her mission is to shed celebratory light on one’s sickle cell journey and provide a sense of hope for these individuals.
