Diana Wiens, Conductor of the Te Deum Singers, will welcome choral music fans to the choir’s annual spring concert, “Let there be Song!” April 9th and 10th.
“It’s all about the excitement of spring and love … it’s about the assurance and the comfort of faith. Praise and the Promised Land,” this last referring to a section of spirituals. The concert will feature anthems from the 19th and 20th century, by composers including Bruckner, Kopylov, Martin Shaw and Chilcott. It will conclude with the premier of “Let There Be Song,” a work by Edmonton musician and composer, Jared Samborski, written specifically for the Te Deum Singers. Wiens will direct the sixty-five singers, accompanied by Adela Wedler and other instrumentalists, once again at Lendrum Mennonite Brethren Church, 11210, 59 Avenue, here in Edmonton.
Concert times are: Saturday, April 9th, at 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, April 10th, at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free – a voluntary collection will be taken, to cover choir expenses.
