Nahum

Nahum – His name means compassionate or full of comfort.

 

–  Was a prophet of God in Judah speaking to Nineveh.

–  This is the companion book or sequel to Jonah.  This book Is set 100 years after

Jonah had preached to the Assyrians.

–  The people of Nineveh had repented 100 years before under Jonah’s preaching.

They had returned to their idolatry, cruelty and oppression and this time they would

Be destroyed.

–  This book was written just before the destruction of Nineveh by Neboplassar the father

Of Nebuchadnezzer.
