The Power of Listening

In Exodus 18:17-27, Moses teaches a very practical lesson on listening to others.  Moses was dealing with people and their problems all by himself.  Jethro his father in law saw this was time consuming and Moses was over burdened by this.  Jethro made a suggestion that Moses get some help.  Moses though that this was good advice so he put it into action.  There is no man alive who has all the answers.  That is why it is so important to listen to the counsel of others.  Many times the situation you are facing can be evaluated and solved by another.  They see the situation from another persepective and they can give you advice from that perspective.  In Proverbs it states that the counsel of others is important.  Do not be afraid to use it if the advice is based on the Word of God.  Let us not forget the greatest source of counsel is the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.  We must use God’s methods first and then man’s.  Our promises today are, 2 Tim 1:7, Isaiah 26:3, Phil 4:8 and Rom 12:2.
